The Ins And Outs of How We Do Business
Should I consider upgrading my piping system to newer technologies?
Unless you have a newly built home, there’s a good chance that your plumbing is an outdated system. Over time, pipes suffer from the elements, resulting in corrosion, rust, and eventual failure. Before disaster strikes, look for these telltale signs that it’s time to upgrade your home plumbing.
Water Discoloration
Unless you have borehole water or live in a rural area, discoloured water is usually a cause for concern. This brown or dark water results from corroded pipes. If left unattended, mineral deposits can clog pipes, which builds pressure. Under continual pressure, the pipes will eventually burst, causing expensive damage. If you suspect your system to have rust or corrosion, then your plumbing needs immediate attention from qualified plumbers.
Pipe Material
Depending on the time your premises were built, the plumbing system’s materials will likely be outdated. Modern systems use brass and copper and, lately, PVC and CPVC pipes. However, older buildings used galvanized steel. Regardless of the material, each one of these plumbing products has a life span. This is seldom a problem in new construction, but if you live in an older home, you might want to find out what pipe material your plumbing system uses.
Low Water Pressure
When experiencing low water pressure during a shower or using the sink, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact problem. You could have a clog in your plumbing, or your pipes could have leaks or pinholes that reduces the water pressure. Leaky pipes will damage your foundation and walls, causing rot and mould growth. At first, you might want to try a household drain cleaner and see if it solves the problem. However, continual problems require the attention of a plumber.
